Today marks the start of British Science Week 2018, and we’re excited to be taking part!
We’ve got a range of local events going on between 9 – 18 March 2018 but, if you’re not able to attend them, there’s still the chance to get involved with Run to the Deep, a new virtual race from the British Science Association.
“These virtual races are a great way of reaching people who might not ordinarily engage with science but are interested in sports and running”
Following the success of last years’ Run the Solar System, this new race has been produced by the British Science Association in partnership with Six to Start, who created the world’s most popular smartphone fitness game, Zombies, Run!
Journey through the sea in this 10k virtual running app. You’ll encounter the Marianas Trench (the deepest known part of the ocean) as well as alien creatures, amazing seascapes and excitement along the ocean floor.
Ivvet Modinou, Head of Engagement at the British Science Association, said: “We were blown away by the success of Run the Solar System last year, so we’re thrilled to be releasing this brand-new adventure, Run to the Deep, in 2018. These virtual races are a great way of reaching people who might not ordinarily engage with science but are interested in sports and running. It also provides a fun physical activity for science fans looking for a New Year fitness boost”
Run to the Deep is free to download and available on any smart device. You can also purchase exclusive merchandise, including t-shirts, hoodies and mugs.
So enter the race and start exploring the ocean today!
