    What are science cafes?
They are informal gatherings in which an expert discusses an interesting science topic – usually one that they’re working on. The goal is to stimulate a lively discussion.

    Our speaker is: Bob Foster

This evening’s topic is: SciArt. What is it? It is easy to see how science influences art, but what about artists influencing science?

We’ll look, briefly, at the history of art and science and how they’ve influenced each other. Then we’ll move on to the birth of SciArt as a ‘thing’ and look at the explosion in science/art collaborations around the world, but focusing mainly on the UK and then on local initiatives.

What do scientists get from collaborating with artists?
    How do artists benefit?
What’s in it for the public?
How do you get funding for a collaboration?
What makes for a productive collaboration?
