On the 15 February 2013, a meteor exploded over the Russian town of Chelyabinsk. The resulting shockwave destroyed buildings, blew out walls and hospitalised 1,500 people. Five years on, Elizabeth Pearson and Graeme Poole will lead a discussion looking back on that day, what we’ve learned since, and asking what we could do to prevent us from being taken unawares again.

Elizabeth Pearson is a space journalist who travelled to the town of Chelyabinsk shortly after the meteor hit.
Graeme Poole is an Earth scientist from Bristol University.
